These guide has been written by the pole dancing specialists on our staff to help you choose the right pole for your needs.
There are two broad categories of pole dancing pole, stripper poles and dancing poles.
Stripper Poles
These look and feel like the pole dancing poles that you might find in a club but are only really intended for tricks that require the dancer to remain on the floor. The most popular pole that we stock in this style is the Peekaboo pole.
Advantages:
- These are the cheapest type of pole
- Easy to erect – less than a minute
- Transportable – very easy to carry
We recommend these for parties and one off events eg. birthday parties and hen nights. They are cheap enough that if you only occasionally dust your Peekaboo Pole off for use it is no huge investment. They are light enough that you can take it around to a friend’s house or even away on holiday – if you are planning a hen weekend.
These stripper poles are becoming increasingly popular for couples to use for adventurous fun. The pole dancing poles that we sell are portable enough to be assembled in a bedroom for a quite night in!
Pole Dancing Poles
For ‘proper’ pole dancing that involves lifting yourself off the floor and using the pole to support your body weight – which is needed for most of the intermediate to advanced moves – you will need to consider a sturdier and slightly more expensive model of pole dancing pole.
Undoubtedly the market leaders for quality dancing poles are the X Pole brand. They have innovated the dancing pole to turn it into a hi specification piece of gym equipment.
The standout characteristics that you need to look for in a dancing pole are rigidity and convenience. The pole should be easy to assemble and erect but completely immoveable when in position. The features that X-Pole can boast are notably their X-Joints, these use engineered screw - threads instead of simple push-fit inserts – this gives the pole strength but without any obvious ridges that can catch a dancer or cause unnecessary friction.
